Symptoms
Sputum examination: Polymorphs 10-15/FOI, Lymphocytes 0-2/FOI, Bacteria: Cocci, Fungi: Absent, ZN stain: No AFB seen
Treatment
No treatment required — commensal flora only
Notes
Alfa Labs (Collection: 06 Mar 2026, Review: 10 Mar 2026). Sputum C/S: Growth of commensals only; no pathogenic bacteria isolated on conventional media. TB ruled out (ZN negative). Significant improvement from Jan 2026 sputum which showed carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas.
Symptoms
Sputum culture, polymorphs 10-12/FOI
Antibiotic Sensitivities
Notes
CARBAPENEM-RESISTANT Pseudomonas in sputum. Only sensitive to piperacillin-based drugs and fluoroquinolones. TB ruled out (ZN negative).
Colony Count
>100,000 CFU/ml
WBC in Urine
21-30/HPF
Symptoms
Elevated CRP (59.1 mg/L), systemic inflammation
Antibiotic Sensitivities
Notes
ORGANISM SHIFT from E.coli to Pseudomonas. CRP 59.1 = active systemic infection. ANC 1.5 (neutropenic during active infection).
Colony Count
>100,000 CFU/ml
WBC in Urine
70-80/HPF
Symptoms
Turbid urine, proteinuria
Antibiotic Sensitivities
Notes
Third ESBL E.coli UTI. Now resistant to ALL fluoroquinolones but gained Gentamicin/SXT sensitivity.
Colony Count
>100,000 CFU/ml
WBC in Urine
60-70/HPF
Symptoms
Turbid urine, proteinuria
Antibiotic Sensitivities
Notes
Recurrence. Dr. Yaser Hasan. Similar resistance pattern.
Colony Count
>100,000 CFU/ml
WBC in Urine
70-80/HPF
Symptoms
Turbid urine, pyuria
Antibiotic Sensitivities
Notes
Alfa Lab. Multi-drug resistant ESBL strain.
Symptoms
Noted during rehabilitation admission
Treatment
Nifran (Norfloxacin) 100mg BD
Duration
Course during admission
Notes
Continental Hospitals, Hyderabad. During rehab stay May-Jun 2016.
